Ask Bani is a spiritual reflection companion designed to offer guidance rooted in the Guru's teachings. We are committed to being transparent about what we collect and why, and to handling any information with care and respect. This policy explains what data the app uses and how it is handled.

Information We Collect

• No account required: Ask Bani does not require you to sign in or create an account. You can use the app anonymously, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any sign-in credentials.
• Conversation content: The questions and messages you share with Bani are sent to our AI provider to generate responses. A record of your recent conversations is retained so you can revisit them within the app, but it is not tied to a personal identity or account.
• Approximate location: We derive an approximate location (country, region, city, and coordinates) from your IP address when you visit the app or switch language. We do not collect precise GPS location.
• Usage analytics: We log limited analytics events, such as app visits and language-preference changes, to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
• Language preference: Your choice of English or Punjabi is saved on your device so the app remembers it next time.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect device identifiers, device model, or operating system details.
• We do not collect contacts, photos, files, or advertising identifiers.
• Voice input and text-to-speech are processed locally on your device using your browser's built-in capabilities; audio is not sent to or stored on our servers.

How Your Information Is Used

• To generate and deliver the spiritual guidance you request.
• To remember your conversations and language preference.
• To understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the experience.
• To display the daily Hukamnama, which is fetched from a public Gurbani service.

How Your Information Is Shared

We do not sell your information. The only third parties who may receive data in the course of providing the service are:

• Our AI service provider — receives your chat prompts to generate responses, subject to the provider's own privacy practices.
• Our hosting and platform providers — store conversation metadata and process requests securely.
• Public Gurbani and geo-IP services — used only to fetch the daily Hukamnama and approximate location, respectively.

Data Security

All data transmitted between your device and our services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Choices & Rights

• You can use the app fully without creating an account or providing any personal details.
• You can delete individual conversations at any time from within the app.
• You can clear your language preference and any locally stored data by clearing your browser's local storage and site data.
• You may contact us at any time to request deletion of any conversation records associated with your use.

Children's Privacy

The app is designed to be safe and respectful for all ages, with guardrails against inappropriate content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described here. If you believe a child has provided information and you would like it removed, please contact us.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
